Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Image
Nina Riva had lived a difficult life for how young she was.  She and her siblings never had it easy despite who their father was, but at least they had each other.  And one thing that stuck was their party.  It has started off when they were young, just locals attending, but had continued once Nina found her fame and now it was the party to be at.  This year would be no different, but none of them would be the same by the end of the night. This was the perfect, quick, summer read.  It's been rainy here so I think I read it in 3 days.  I loved the story and loved the format, hour by hour.  I will definitely be looking for more books by this author.

LED Mirror Clock

Image
I like having a clock on my nightstand.  Do I need it?  Not really.  My phone is always near by, but I've always had one and just like having it there.  I never use it for an alarm.   I am a little embarrassed to say that until I recently got this I have had an old iHome as my clock.  Once upon a time I used it with my iPod as a speaker as well, but it has just become a regular clock for me.  I saw this clock on someone's Instagram story.  Maybe @alexajeanbrown? I decided it was time to upgrade. Super easy to set up and does have an alarm function if you do want an alarm clock.  The best part?  2 USB ports on the side so I can plug my phone charger into it.  The mirror look is so sleek and modern and you can change how bright you like your numbers.  There is also an auto brightness setting.  You can get it with a white or black base.  It's currently $20.59 on Amazon and there's a 20% coupon, so it's $16.47...

All Things Cease to Appear by Elizabeth Brundage

Image
I was scrolling through Netflix one night and was looking at recently added and saw the trailer for Things Seen and Heard with Amanda Seyfried.  It looked good and then it said based on the book.  For me, it means I have to read the book first.  I went and found it on Amazon after some searching as the title is not the same, but boy am I glad I did. A young couple moves to a farmhouse in a small, quiet town.  They got the farmhouse for a very good deal, as the house had some unsettling history.  As time passes and Catherine's marriage falls apart, she also learns the dark history of the house. I don't want to write too much and give any spoilers.  I got through this pretty quickly.  I love a book with secrets and twists.  I have not watched the movie yet.  I will do a post once I do.

CMZ2005 High Low Dress

Image
So last month I had a wedding to go and I had planned on rewearing a dress.  Unfortunately, when I put it on, I wasn't loving the way it looked.  I will be completely honest and say I am paying for being lazy during quarantine.  So I started hunting for another dress.  I absolutely love the way the tulip hem looks and found several dresses, but they were way more than I wanted to spend.   I decided to check Amazon and found this dress.  Adjustable straps and it was beautiful.  It was $39.99 and has a 5% coupon, so I ordered it.  I wasn't expecting much and was planning on it maybe not looking nice enough for the wedding.  I was so surprised.  It looked way nicer than I expected.  It fit me perfect.  I normally am a small or medium.  I ordered a small and just adjusted the straps. Ok so day of the wedding.  Super comfortable, looked amazing.  But the slit in the front is a true slit.  There is no ...

Hilor Women's One Piece Swimsuit

Image
For a few weeks I kept seeing people wearing this black swimsuit.   It honestly looked flattering on everyone and I've been in the market for a full piece bathing suit with good coverage.  I found it on Amazon for $32.99.  It had great reviews and it also had a ton of other colors and patterns.  To be perfectly honest, I am not a plain black swimsuit kind of gal.  I'm the one wearing lots of bright colors.   I found this option which was backordered at the time.  I waited for it though and am so glad I did. The rainbow straps give it just the right amount of flair.  The straps are a nice solid elastic and don't slip at all.  It covered just the right amount and I was super comfortable in it all day.  I ordered a medium in this.  I am normally between a small/medium, but I didn't want it to be too small in the wrong places. You can find it here .

Dreamlover Hair Ties

Image
I have legit tried so many hair ties. I have thin hair and I never can seem to find one that lasts or that doesn't leave horrible creases in my hair.  I had most recent been using the plastic springy ones.  I'm not really sure what they're called.  But they always stretched out so easily.  I saw these on @ darylanndenner Instagram story and decided to give them a shot.  I'm hooked and I've gotten my sister hooked as well.  I got a 50 pack on Amazon for $6.99.  The only downside I will say is they only come in black.  I would have preffered brown or a blonde color.  But they last, I've only used like 2 in a couple months and it leaves a slight crease only if I put my hair in a tight ponytail.

Brilliant Earth Puck Lights

Image
Get that expensive look for less!  I love the look of under counter lights.  I however am not very electrically inclined and I honestly didn't want to hire someone to come wire lights in.  I found these on Amazon with great reviews.  This is the 6 pack, but I believe you can get different sized packs depending on what works for you.  They simply adhere with a sticky adhesive included and Boom!  You're done.  You can either tap them to turn them on or they come with a remote.  They remote also allows you to dim them and put them on a timer.  Each light takes 3 AAA batteries and mine came with a set of batteries to start.  They are currently $34.99 on Amazon with a coupon for $10 off!

NatureLab Tokyo Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner

Image
I have really fine hair and am constantly switching between shampoo and conditioner brands because so many make my hair oily and weigh it down.  This is the first shampoo and conditioner that doesn’t!  I love the smell.  It is a light cherry blossom, but not too perfume smelling.  And their website advertises their products are free of Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, Animal Testing, Animal Cruelty, Animal Derived Ingredients.   Count me in!  Once you get the bottles they also sell convenient refill bags.  You can find it at Ulta , Amazon , or NatureLab 's website.

Liquid IV

Image
I bought these to try as I don’t drink nearly enough water even on days I work out.  I’ve seen them advertised all over and you can buy them on their direct site, amazon, etc.  I went with the passion fruit flavor, but the acai berry also sounded good.  It’s simple.  Mix one packet into 16 oz of water.  It doesn’t change the color of your water, but instead makes it sort of cloudy.  My one surprise was how salty it was.  I understand the science behind it and that there needs to be sodium, but I expected it to be more sweet than salty.  Next time I am going to try diluting it more and see if that helps.

Mossio 7 Set Packing Cubes

Image
Lets all plan some trips finally!  I have never owned packing cubes and never thought I needed them.  But this set was only $17.99.  I took it on a recent weekend trip and it made functioning with a duffel bag so much easier.  It’s 3 cubes, 3 different sized laundry pouches, and a shoe bag.  The cubes expand much larger than I thought they would and it definitely kept me more organized.  You can get them here .
